This piece of philosophy will guide you through every step of the way in dismantling the notion of the external world. It will effectively reveal and dispel any wrong-thinking surrounding this idea upon which all else stands. The purpose? To unburden you from all notions of ‘self’, allowing you to directly discover the raw, non-dual truth of Being.

This isn't the first work that tackles this subject. But others have left it at “we can’t really know whether there’s anything beyond our experience”, while I go all the way and say that we can know – and in this book I’ll show you exactly how and why this idea of an objective, physical universe of time and space beyond our perceptions is nothing but a figment of our imagination.

But it’s a book unlike all others on the contemporary non-dual awakening scene. You won’t find any ‘pointers’ in it. What you’ll find is stone cold logic hacking away at the very foundation of existence itself. And in its wake; when the dust finally settles; you’ll recognize that, not only were the words of the sages true all along, but they've gone from being a remote possibility to being the light and guiding principle of your life. What words?

"Consciousness is all."

Incredibly compelling backstory and investigation of the teachings of ancient Indian philosophy of the literal oneness of all. I wish I could say it "worked" on me, but I'm not done with it yet. Definitely recommend, especially if readers have already read many books that just keep describing the condition after the "realization" without really describing clear steps to get there. (I think this is because the authors often had spontaneous experiences that were not the result of anything obvious, so how can they describe the process or teach it?) So many say, if you just do this, you'll see that such and such is true. But I don't actually see that such and such is true, and I find that others I talk with don't, either. They depend on faith rather than experience, though they don't like to admit it. Backlund tries to lead you to real understanding through experience. I suspect a greater proportion of readers have come closer to understanding from his work than many seekers do with all their reading and attending satsangs of much more famous teachers. But those strategies are more comforting, I admit. Hmm, this is making me want to commit to reading Backlund again and participating more on the Facebook page.

Refuting the External World edition by Goran Backlund Politics Social Sciences eBooks Reviews

Deepened awakening immediately! I was expecting to pierce through the 'logic' on second read and thought it would fade, but it even made more 'sense' and was one step ahead now. This is a reliable path to awaken and deepen over and over again until you're DONE(Jeff McKenna)
For the people who did not 'wake' up from it but weren't in complete denial of the logic presented, there's no such thing as before or after awakening, there's just deepening (or deconstructing) before and after whatever you're waiting for. So how do you know you've deepened as there are no bells and whistles when awakening? A good indicator is only a small decrease in suffering, or a small increase in wellbeing even temporarily, but it could also be huge and permanent. Just keep deconstructing. Keep doing it until IT DOES YOU! Be sure to check out the writers articles on his website too!
That there is no external world corresponding to perception is a very difficult topic to explain because it runs so counter to what seems to be obvious everyday experience. The implications are rather extreme, the bottom line being we don't exist in any recognizable form if at all (as discrete entities). The videos of scientist Donald Hoffman may be very helpful in making some sense of this. The book "Jed McKenna's Theory of Everything" presents a worldview that may be useful. The clearest relevant book IMO from the nonduality POV is David Carse's Perfect Brilliant Stillness, available in digital form from the website of the same name. Good Luck, say I to me.;-/
In my opinion, Backlund copies Jed McKenna's schtick in terms of how he delivers his message. However, it's a good schtick to copy. It's clear and effective. And, schtick aside, Backlund's content is original, and very, very good. He has not only done the work and discovered Truth for himself, he does a fine job of communicating it. I'm not saying this is an easy read because it isn't. But if you are interested in waking up, really waking up, read this book. Read it again and again until you get it. I also reccomend you read Jed McKenna. Not instead of this book, but in addition to it. Backlund's website is also excellent. Unlike McKenna, he has made himself available to the public and we should be grateful for it.
One of the clearest posits of penetrating "metaphysics" I have ever run across. Clearly written in simple language Most folks interested would have no difficulty following the thesis. If your rational linear upbringing/training keeps gnawing/pecking at an inner sense of non-duality or consciousness preceding "reality" then this book/experience will put that gnawing disconnect to rest. Will shave time and effort from your search. Be prepared for a clarifying and refreshing experience. HIGHLY recommend
When you're exploring, things show up because you're looking for them. Finding this booked implied my readiness to absorb Backlund's views. I wasn't disappointed.
Backlund explains a very dense topic in a way that is unique. Complex thinkers usually can't readily get the point across - they go down rabbit holes and lose some of us. Backlund doesn't do that. And yet, it's a quick read. I will read it again. A few times.
Goran is using the Direct Pointing technique to reveal the fallacies of our beliefs. I like the fact that the book is presented as the genuine conversation with a truly honest person, not afraid of looking at the truth even when it goes against all beliefs and misconceptions.

It does require that sincerity and courage from the reader side as well. For me it did again refresh the understanding of no such thing as seeing and seen and more generally that there is no separation between experiencing and the experience. I must admit I struggle with some points especially space.

The general feeling is that everything exposed here is logically sound but the mind still goes on and covers it up instantly. Nevertheless, one starts seeing through the cracks of the illusion.

I was expecting though a bit more emphasis on the thought "I" since this is the main culprit of us perceiving duality. Many good advises are to be found on his website on how to follow up and dismantle further the illusion, and who knows maybe to achieve liberation )
This book is the most concrete and easily verifiable tool for undoing wrong-thinking and sharpening focus towards the core aspects of reality and truth. The text is based on no-nonsense and irrefutable logic and requires nothing but serious thought and an openness and suspension of habitual beliefs. The book holds the master key that deconstructs consensus reality. It is also brilliant because it does not feel "personal" until the whole house of cards collapses, but then it is too late and you will never see your self the same way...
